PRETTY IN PINK

Who are we to say what colours are in, out or soo last season? In all honesty, makeup is about projecting your personality through colour.
I am a major lipstick fan. In 2009 I ranted on about Red lipsticks and the sexiness of 40’s fashion which seems to be making yet another come back (yawn, cough, chuckle). Let it go people, please- let it go.
I even got a whiff of someone mentioning that brown lipstick is IN this year:  but I rocked that for the festive season of 2009.  The beauty world is playing catch up with me. Where else are we to go from here? Back to the beloved PINK! Pink glorious pin! Pink is very gay, girly and gorgeously pop.

But you do not need to be a prancing lady boy to rock out in magenta or rose.
Pink was something women used to be comfortable wearing. It seems like it’s association with the ‘pink-pound’ has tainted it’s appeal in recent years.

I usually wear a humble brown based pink, but for 2010 I’m going full throttle with Dior who have created Sérum de Rouge £23, the first elixir of youth for the lips with exquisite radiance. A sublime combination of skincare and colour, with microcirculation collagen, which boosts the plumpness of your pout. It also has 10 times more staying power, so you won’t have to run off every 10 minutes to re-apply.

Every time a celebrity brings out a collection or starts a new business venture, I am always dubious about the quality. People seem to think they can sell because of their name. To teenyboppers and brainless buffoons, yes. To the makeup savvy, no.
I was delighted that one good thing came out of Beverly Knight’s K By Beverley Knight Cosmetics. Check out her intense lipstick in Cardinal. It is hyper, glides onto the lips and offers instant attraction. £11.24

My cult favourite brand at the moment is Chanel. It’s the sensual nature that really attracts me. The slick black and gold packaging, the perfumes are to die for. But the lipsticks are heaven! Try Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lipstick in Fabulous £23. This embossed lipstick would even give star quality to Ugly Betty.

I think you catch my drift. Out with the Red, in with the Pink.
